Modern curio

I genuinely admire entrepreneurs and craftsmen who chose to experiment with new formats and new technologies to create something of lasting value.

Pequeno Press' miniature The Code belongs to this category. An abbreviated translation of Gelli's Code, it certainlydoesn't offer a whole lot to the researcher. It is more of a curio, a sampler of craftsmanship and dexterity that sets apart this little volume: from the leather used in the hand binding process to the two miniature six-shooters set into the cover board, to the pop-up of a duelling glove in the front endpaper.

It has been crafted with painstaking attention to detail -- even though the quality of the print process itself may leave something to be desired. Of all the books in my collection, this one may have the most original flavor. Serious collectors will find it worth the not inconsiderable expense.
